Secure Data Transfer
Enigma T301E makes use of GSM „Circuit Switched Data“ data transfer (CSD). This means that a direct call is connected from phone to phone. This direct connection is open until the call is ended. The advantage of using the GSM data channel is that it ensures a fixed band width.
The GSM contract has to include the CSD option for international roaming (circuit switched data services under all roaming conditions). This refers to the capacity of the mobile phone to set up and to terminate direct data links to another phone.
The data service required from the GSM network is specified as Bearer Service 26 with the following additional options:
- Transparent mode.
- V110 Protocol.
- UDI (Unrestricted Digital Information).
- Data Compression not allowed.
In addition to the normal GSM call number certain providers provide a second specific data number (“multi numbering” procedure) for the SIM card at which the user can be reached for data calls.

- User authentication by asymmetric RSA 1024/2048 bits and X509v3 certificates of the security card.

- Local security management based on blacklist / whitelist or closed user groups.
- For each call a new AES session key is generated.
- The AES session key is transferred encrypted with RSA 1024/2048 bit.
- The speech quality of encrypted calls is comparable to normal GSM calls.
- Only negligible speech delay occurs during encrypted calls.
- Only use of well inspected mobile operating system.
- Simple phone handling.

A transfer of non-encrypted speech is not possible during an encrypted call, neither accidentally nor by faulty connection by the network provider. Furthermore, the vulnerable Bluetooth interface is blocked for encrypted calls |
Use with normal phone calls

Enigma T301E is also a mobile phone for “normal” calls Enigma T301E works in all German and foreign Networks that meet the GSM standard. In addition to the integrated encryption system Enigma has all features of a usual business mobile phone so that it can be used for “normal” calls also. This is important for business people: If you have the Enigma phone you do not need a second mobile phone for your normal calls. When switching to secure communication you can keep your existing SIM card and your usual mobile phone number. In spite of its important ingredients EnigmaT301E with its weight significantly under 100 grams is one of the lightest mobile phones on the market and not bigger than usual business mobile phones. |

Enigma T301E offers an efficient and easily operable end-to-end solution for speech encryption unique in the world
Each Enigma T301E disposes of an individual key pair which is generated and certified by the Trust Centre of Deutsche Telekom and stored in the T-TeleSec NetKey card (crypto card) integrated into the mobile phone.
When another Enigma mobile phone (equally having an individual key pair) is called the partners are reciprocally authenticated by the certificates and the two key pairs of the respective crypto cards. A randomly produced ‘Session Key’ (one time pass key, one out of about 10 to the 77th power) will be encrypted exchanged between the phones and used only for this individual call.
This key encrypts all signals exchanged between the mobile phones. Whoever taps
the encrypted data flow will only hear a noise the content of which cannot be decrypted even by high performance mainframes.
